I think I need an intervention. I’ve always been the kind to read at least 2 books at the same time, but once in a while, I over-do it. I had a wake up call this morning *snort*, when I got my brand new and shiny copy of The Iron Duke *squeeeee* and I thought… ‘Hey, I should start it now!’ (in my defense I’ve been waiting for my copy for a long time!)<== yeah…right!
Only NOW, I’m currently reading quite a few books already! Here is proof:
Which means that all those books are constantly on my bed (to my mom’s despair…apparently beds aren’t nightstands) , waiting to be read one after the other. And yes I do pick them up all for reading. (proof is the update %)
The reasonable thing now would be to pick ONE book and read it all. The intelligent thing would be to stop picking up new books. lol Only I am not reasonable I guess since I still want to start The Iron Duke now! Please someone tells me to stop starting new books!
I love GoodReads, it’s really a great way to lose hours and end up adding books to TBR list…ahem…I mean keep track of what I read. I am a sucker for all those neat GoodReads widgets. Lol I think there’s enough proof of that on my left sidebar. ;)
Are you also an adept of multiple reading? Or are you a one-book-at-a-time kinda person? I am crazy? <==Wait don’t answer that one, it’s a rhetorical question lol

I always read more books at the same time as it depends on my mood which one I pick up. So I do not think you're crazy ;-)
ReplyDelete@Sullivan McPig Ahh yes! Exactly! It depends on my mood too. lol I need to compensate the sad books with funny ones. It's a complicated task lol. *g*
ReplyDeleteI usually try to have only 2 books 'open' at any given time. I don't like to DNF books but I will if it's just not grabbing my attention.
ReplyDeleteI give you full permission to drop all other books & read THE IRON DUKE! I loved it. I had a few quibbles but not enough to stop me from gushing about it.
@Scorpio M. Ahhh 2 books is a good limit! lol I don't DNF books either, I still read them. (only once I DNF one). The worst part is that I really like all the books I'm Currently Reading!! (or is that the best part? LOL). I'm just not focused enough. =P
ReplyDelete*squeeee* Ok, now I HAVE to start The Iron Duke! I'll ask you about your quibbles when I'm done reading it. Maybe I'll have the same ;) It looks sooooooooooooo good! *g* *squeee*
Oh and I couldn't stop staring at the cover, because that man's book is weird LOL
Again...YOU ARE NOT ALONE in your madness my friend, I'm right there with you...*sigh* I'm currently reading *only* 4, (one of them is actually Touched by an Alien, that my friend won at BLI, and borrowed me xD) and I've been managing to read a couple of chapters from each every night. But I have to tell you it's YOUR fault that I'm reading 4 and not 3, and that I'm also cheating in this "read a few chapters from each book", because my Warrior arrived on monday and I was so intrigued I had to start right away, so now I need to slap myself everytime I'm reading it just so I can put it down and read from another one (because I'm loving it ! and don't really want to stop reading xD)
ReplyDeleteOh, and I wish I could go back to the one-book-at-a-time person I used to be...not happening though.
@jen7waters What a pair we make! It seems we're sharing the same vices LOL. And now I have the Micheal Jackson song stuck in my head 'You are not alooooooooone' *sings* lol
ReplyDeleteMY fault? *g* YAY I love hearing that.*bouncing* Warrior was good, but book 2, Scoundrel is even better! *g*. You liking Touched by an Alien? It's hilarious!
I tried going back to reading one book at a time but I got so bored! And I can't stop myself from opening a 2nd book. lol
I have a 'normal' number of 'currently Reading' books, which is 3...1 print for fun, 1 print for review and 1 ebook (either review or fun). I have NO idea how I ended up with 7 O_o
Anyway, YAY I am noooooot aloooooone *sings*<===damn it's going to get stuck in my head <_<
I am currently having this problem. I am in the middle of three different books right now and I'm putting them on pause to read a fourth book because it needs to be reviewed by a certain date (ahem, tomorrow). Ah, the life of a reviewer.
ReplyDelete@Simply_Megan Yes it can become a problem when you have deadlines! Oh my, good luck to finish this book for tomorrow lol. ;) Yep reviewing can become quite overwhelming fast. =P
ReplyDelete4 books ain't too bad, just don't pick up any more for now *wink* Don't follow my example I will soon be eaten alive by my Currently Reading pile.
I have the same problem, I just realized I'm reading 3 books at the same time right now and having them all stacked up is not fun lol. It kinda gives me anxiety!
ReplyDelete@Marie Be careful you start with 3 and you end up with a huge pile! lol ;) Maybe you should put them at different places. Trick your mind into forgetting there are 3. Who know!Maybe it'll work...or you'll end up with even more books started at the same time =P
ReplyDeleteYou got stuck with the Michael Jackson song?I'm stuck with that one from Michael Bublé "coz UUU R not aloooone, I am always there with UUUU, and we'll get lost together lalala*don't know the rest of the lyric*..."
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's your fault :p don't worry I'll get to Scoundrel :D
Touched by an alien is funny indeed, that Martini guy, omg, I'm always telling him "Eeeaaasyy, man!" (he really is a horndog like the others call him xD) but he never listens to me...
There is also a Steampunk novella by Meljean called "Here There Be Monsters" in the BURNING UP anthology. It. Is. SO. Gooood. I loved it to pieces! and I NEVER EVER buy anthologies.
ReplyDeleteNot that you need more things to read or anything like that...muahaha. :D
hahahahaha! ok that was indeed a rhetorical question but i'm a multiple book reader too :D always hungering for new literature...bin browsing through your blog and i love your choice, gonna check out these books
ReplyDelete@Jen7waters Bwahahaha I'm glad I didn't think of the Bublé song LOL. Thank god thank that!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to read Rebel, this is a very good series.
Oh yes! Martini *swoon* he is fantastic and so funny. I'm still at the beginning though. =P
@Scorpio M. Ohhh is the novella linked to the Iron Duke? I mean it is with the same characters, or do we see the characters again? Do i need to read it first? Damn...I want to read it now. Damn! lol You are EVIL! lol
@Sado Multiple book reading for the win! lol I would have a hard time reading only one at a time.
LOL I have the same problem!!! My goodreads currently reading thing is very similar hehe
ReplyDeleteIt is an addiction! Im doomed =P
@Larissa Yes we're doomed lol I think that it's getting worse with time.O_o Same time next year we'll been crushed under the 'Currently Reading' pile LOL Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI am a 1 book at a time reader. But I do go through 3-4 books a week depending. Your not crazy...you just love books! Go you! woot woot!
ReplyDelete@Katie Dalton You are a rare species! Maybe I'd read faster if I read only 1 book at a time...*ponders*...hum maybe that's an experiment I should try lol. You do read a lot, wow! You must have read at least 100 books in 2010 O_o Am impressed. =) Hehe us book lovers have a right to be crazy about our books *g*
ReplyDeleteOh Caro, I'm like you, I always have several books going on at the same time. Usually it's 2-3 I read while I commute to work, and read one at home on my ereader (and maybe another one on my laptop if I can't stop myself :-p) My disfunctionality is that sometimes I love a book so much I don't want it to end, and leave off reading the last few pages/chapters: I started reading Atonement by Ian MacEwan about 2 years ago, read about half of the book, then left it and haven't read it since, even though I cherished every sentence! I forced myself to read the last chapter of The Strangely Beautiful Tale of Miss Percy Parker after a couple of months, I didn't want the story to end. It is abnormal, but it happens with me.
ReplyDeleteThough I would really advise you to read Topuched by an Alien in one sitting because believe me that's how you'll enjoy the best (and +bonus: then you'll have 1 less book on your currently reading/TBR pile :-) )
@Stella Ah! I know about that too lol I did the same with a few books...I just didn't want to finish them because I didn't want it to end! I dragged it for months.
ReplyDeleteI will try to read Touched by an Alien fast...but it's going to be hard not to peak at other books at the same time. I Iz Addicted!
Welcome to the Dark Side of the Currently Reading Stella. We have cookies!
LOLOLOL *raising hand*
ReplyDeleteI'm a chronic book juggler, so I'm either a packing a paperback or carrying my laptop around reading the latest e-book.. lol
So no, you don't need intervention, I think it goes along with the massive TBR pile Patte!
Great post!
@Lea Muahahah We really should create a club or something lol. Knowing I'm not the only one makes me feel less bad about doing it LOL.
ReplyDeleteI always have either a book or my Ereader or even books on my iphone....you will NEVER find me without books. =P Of course my friends think I'm rude for taking a book with me...it seems it's rude to even think I'd be bored enough to read when I go see them LOL What I say is...'who know what might happen!' ;)
Good thing I didn't say I'd stop this book juggling because I started ANOTHER book *g* There's no hope for me.
Have a great Sunday Lea!
